5th grade Soft Sculptures
Stray Sock Sculptures
This was a really fun project that integrated recycling, literacy, photography, sewing, sculpture and technology to create 3D creatures. Students learned various sewing stitches and they also learned how to sew on a button. Kids started by drawing thumbnail sketches and chose on creature to transform into a 3D work of art. They used stray socks and found buttons to be environmentally friendly.

4th grade Faux-dermy
Students combined their interest and love of all things animal, Star Wars, mythical creatures to create paper mache animal head trophies. The project challenged students to
sketch 2D versions of their chosen animals or creature, then transform them into 3D
forms.. We used only found objects and recycled materials to make this eco-friendly art work.

Andy Goldsworthy Autumn Art Project
It was a beautiful fall day outside so to take advantage of the weather I decided we should go outside and make art. We watched some video clips of Andy Goldsworthy's Rivers and Tides. We talked a bit about design and how his art uses organic materials found in a particular location and how he cannot be attached to his work because weather and the elements take a toll on his work and erase it or alter it as time goes passes. This was difficult for the kids as throughout the day I heard them complain that kids changed or "ruined" their work during recess. They took photos of their work with the iPads. The results are incredible.
