We looked at the art from various cultures who weave. Students built a cardboard loom and learned about the warp and weft. This was a challenging but rewarding fiber art project.

4th grade Totem Pole Collages
Students learned
about the significance of totem poles and that they were and still are
made by native tribes who lived in the Pacific Northwest region of
North America.
The big word for this project was stylize. We learned that some artists stylize their work by changing shapes, colors, etc. in order to give their work their own personal touch. Each student created one stylized animal in the style of a real totem pole.

4th grade field trip to Denver Art Museum
Every year I write a grant to Reach Out Crest View parent organization for a field trip to the Denver Art Museum. ReachOut Crest View (ROCV).Crest View Elementary School’s
parent-teacher organization, is chartered to raise funds to support
academic enrichment, scholarship needs and capital improvements, provide
activities and events to develop and strengthen the school community,
and sponsor periodic forums and events for parent education on issues
related to elementary education and children. The ROCV has enabled us to do some amazing projects, professional development, and field trips.
